Choosing foods When you speak with a WIC educator, you can talk together about nutrition, children and healthy food. You will learn which foods are “WIC foods.” Then you can decide which WIC foods you want to buy each month.

Different foods for different people A toddler and a pregnant woman need different types of food and different amounts. Which foods can you buy with your WIC Card? What amount of each food can you buy? This will depend on whether you are pregnant, have just delivered, are breastfeeding, or have an infant, toddler or child.

Special cases If you or your child can not tolerate dairy foods such as milk and cheese, you and the WIC educator can choose other healthy foods. If you or your child has a food allergy or another medical concern, a WIC nutritionist can help you choose the best foods for you.
